Celebrate responsibly this Fourth of July

Jun 9, 2026

The Fourth of July is right around the corner. As you plan your holiday activities, please remember the only fireworks that can be legally sold and used in Roseville are those labeled with the Safe and Sane seal from the State Fire Marshal.

The sale of Safe and Sane fireworks begins on Sunday, June 28 at noon at designated and permitted neighborhood booths by local nonprofits. Possession or discharge of illegal fireworks can result in citations and significant fines.

Avoid purchasing illegal fireworks as they are dangerous and can cause injuries or grass, vegetation, or structure fires, which pose significant risk to neighborhoods.

The following fireworks are illegal:

  • Firecrackers
  • Bottle rockets
  • Sky rockets
  • Roman candles
  • Mortars
  • Any firework that flies into the air or explodes

New this year: the Roseville Fire Department is offering an opportunity for residents to safely surrender illegal fireworks with no questions asked. The goal is to keep dangerous fireworks out of our neighborhoods and prevent fires, injuries, and property damage.

What You Need to Know

Bring illegal fireworks directly to a Roseville fire station.

  • Residents may drop off illegal fireworks at any Roseville fire station.
  • Do not leave fireworks unattended outside the station.
  • Ring the doorbell and hand the fireworks directly to a firefighter so they can be safely received and stored.

Never leave fireworks at the station door.

  • Unattended fireworks create a safety risk for firefighters, visitors, and the public.
  • A firefighter must personally accept the fireworks to ensure they are handled safely.

If fireworks have been modified, damaged, or appear unstable, do not transport them.

  • Examples may include fireworks that have been altered, combined, exposed to water, leaking powder, or otherwise tampered with.
  • Instead, contact Public Safety Dispatch at 916-774-5000 x1 to arrange for safe disposal.
  • These situations may require response by specially trained personnel and should not be handled by the public.
