Bicyclists

  • The rules of the road require bikes, like cars, to travel on the right. This also applies to our trails. California Vehicle Code 21956
  • Travel at a safe speed
  • Yield to pedestrians


Pedestrians

  • Pedestrians always use the left lane
  • Stay in the proper lane so you aren’t surprised by traffic coming behind you
  • When a cyclist approaches, step toward the shoulder to allow extra room for passing


All Trail Users

  • Don’t block the trail; travel single file when trail is busy
  • Keep dogs under control and on a leash no longer than 6 feet. Roseville Municipal Code 7.04.060
  • Stay alert to your surroundings
  • No motorized vehicles permitted on trails. This includes but is not limited to, motorized scooters and golf carts. This does not apply to electric wheelchairs or mobility devices needed for ADA accessibility. Roseville Municipal Code 8.02.220

The Share the Trail etiquette guidelines were reviewed by the Parks & Recreation Commission at the June 14, 2010 meeting and the Transportation Commission at the June 15, 2010 meeting.

The trail sign and messaging are based on public survey input and consistency with guidelines on other regional trails, including the American River Parkway.
