As part of the City of Roseville’s
Transportation 360 initiative and the recently completed Comprehensive Operational Analysis, Roseville Transit launched a revised Commuter schedule as of April 21, 2025.
Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions.
Why did the Commuter schedules change?The new Commuter schedules reflect
Transportation 360 public feedback over the last year, current travel behavior, ridership data, and resource availability. Additionally, these changes are being driven by:
- State return-to-office requirements, which have significantly shifted commuter patterns.
- A need to address bus capacity on peak days, particularly Tuesdays through Thursdays.
- Strong rider interest in more streamlined routes, direct service, and better afternoon return spacing.
- Demand for key new destinations, especially the May Lee State Office Complex on Richards Boulevard.
Please be patient as passengers and employees adjust to the new routes and schedules.
Why is there no longer a 7:30 AM trip from Saugstad Park?As part of
Transportation 360, the City conducted a number of surveys and open houses, reviewed passenger loads, and studied traffic patterns. The large majority of respondents requested earlier Commuter times. As a result, AM and PM routes were developed based on this data. However, since the release of the new Commuter schedule, we received feedback from passengers requesting later pickup and drop-off times. Following an assessment of staffing and budget, Commuter AM 9 was revised to address this additional feedback.
We will continue to monitor passenger trends by route and adjust the schedule to address bus capacity when possible.

Has travel time to Sacramento improved?Yes. Under the new schedule, the average travel time from Roseville to Sacramento has been reduced:
- Previous schedule: 66.5 minutes on average
- New schedule: 59.9 minutes on average
By adjusting routing and stop sequences, the new schedule offers faster, more efficient trips.
Will there be mid-day or weekend Commuter service?While these ideas were explored during the
Transportation 360 public input process, resource constraints don’t currently allow for these additions. Roseville Transit remains open to considering these options in the future if demand and funding align.
Why was Reverse Commute service discontinued?Due to extremely low ridership, Reverse Commute service (from Sacramento to Roseville in the morning, and Roseville to Sacramento in the afternoon) has been paused.
We will continue to review demand for this option and may consider reinstating the service in the future.
Why is my current bus stop no longer in service?As part of the
Transportation 360 effort to reduce travel times and improve efficiency, Roseville Transit restructured routes to serve the most frequently used Commuter stops. If your previous stop is no longer served, please review the new schedule below and consider using another stop location.
Are there additional amenity improvements planned?
- Roseville Transit launched improved real-time bus tracking. Learn more about the TripShot mobile app.
- We are working closely with our maintenance team to keep air conditioning and heating running smoothly. Roseville is also adding five new electric Commuter buses which are estimated for service in 2025.
- Roseville Transit will be closely monitoring passenger patterns for all routes and adjusting the Commuter schedule based on load capacity as quickly and operationally feasible as possible.
