Our book sales are at the Downtown Library from 10:00am-3:00pm. Come browse thousands of gently used books at unbeatable prices! From bestsellers and classics to children’s books and cookbooks, there’s something for every reader. 

Prices: Unless otherwise marked, children's books are $1, hardbacks are $3, and paperbacks are $2.

Our three library locations all have used bookstores open during library hours! Shop anytime. 
Checkmate! Whether you’re a grandmaster or a beginner, all skill levels and ages are welcome. Bring your own board or use one of ours.

Dress up and join us for a fun 2K stroll through Maidu Regional Park in support of local libraries and literacy on Saturday, April 18, from 9:00–11:00 a.m. Along the way, discover stories, characters and playful surprises, then celebrate at the finish line with games, crafts, treats and special guests.

Registration includes a T-shirt and medal. Children ages 2 and under participate for free.

Spring into reading from Saturday, March 7 to Saturday, April 18 with our fun seasonal challenge!

Children ages 3 and under can participate in our 1000 Books Before Kindergarten reading program to earn prizes. 

Children ages 4–12 can earn up to three gift cards for a free In-N-Out hamburger or cheeseburger by completing a Spring Reading Challenge log.

Teens and adults can join in the fun with Spring Reading Bingo, earning a fidget spinner pen and a chance to win a gift card to the Fountains at Roseville.
Experience a bubbly, high-energy show the whole family will love at the Maidu Community Center on Wednesday, April 22 from 3:30–4:30pm.

All ages. Free, drop-in. 
Enjoy double the color on Friday, April 24 from 4:00–5:00pm. Begin at the Project Play Playground behind the Riley Library with chalk art on the cement, then head to Mahany Park for a lively colored-powder party.

May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month! Let's celebrate on Saturday, May 2 at the Maidu Community Center from 10:00am - 12:00pm with a mini festival featuring dance, music, games, crafts and delicious snacks. Parent participation required.
