Although we encourage residences to toss everything in their trash bin, we also have other alternatives to recycle things like flattened cardboard. Box packaging (foam and plastics) should be thrown in your garbage bin. Please do not take these materials to recycling centers. Create space by using one of our recycling sites.

Help us.  We have noticed that some of our recycling drop-off areas being littered with illegal dumping. Please be sure to use these locations for their intended purpose.  And, if you see illegal dumping occurring, please contact us at (916) 774-5780.

Recycle your cardboard at a drop-off location.  Doing so will free up space in your trash and recycling bin. Please use these sites with care by breaking down your cardboard and keeping the site free of other trash.

Californians don't have to go out of their way to recycle. There are 1,715 recycling centers statewide that buy back empty California Refund Value (CRV) beverage containers, most conveniently located near places you live and work. Most beverages other than milk, wine and distilled spirits are subject to CRV.

Newspaper bins are no longer available at drop-off recycling locations in Roseville. Bins to recycle cardboard will still be offered for pieces that don't fit into your trash and recycling bin at home.

We've removed these bins because:

  • Lack of participation because of changes in how people receive news.
  • These bins are often contaminated with illegal dumping, so we must process each bin as trash (versus recyclable material) at a higher cost.
Newspaper placed in your regular trash bin will still be sorted and recycled at the landfill.
CRV collection bins for plastic, glass and aluminum are no longer available at drop-off locations in Roseville. You can place your CRV items in your trash/recycling can, and will be removed and recycled at the Material Recovery Facility.
