Welcome to the Planning Division
The Planning Division provides professional guidance and technical assistance to the City Council, planning commissions and the public; implements and monitors city growth and development policies; accepts, processes and analyzes development applications and recommends action on such applications to the Council, Planning Commission and Design Committee. The Planning Division also acts on items such as administrative permits, sign permits, home occupations and code enforcement.Planning Fee Schedule - Effective July 1, 2025
All permits are subject to an added 3 percent Technology Fee pursuant to Ordinance #5014.

The City Council has adopted an ordinance to prohibit parking on residential landscaping: Parking within the Front and Side Yard, What’s Allowed

- Checking with the Planning Division at (916) 774-5276. Staff are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Watching for Planning Commission and Design Committee agendas, which are posted at the Planning Division, 311 Vernon Street.
