Made in Roseville iconWhen you turn on a computer, drive an electric vehicle or rely on a medical device, you may be using technology made in Roseville. From semiconductor components to precision-engineered parts, manufacturing in Roseville plays a role in products people depend on every day.

Manufacturing also delivers a powerful economic impact. For every $1.00 spent in manufacturing, there is a total impact of $2.69 to the overall U.S. economy, reflecting the broad network of suppliers, services and businesses supported by the industry. In Roseville, manufacturing continues to strengthen the local economy by creating high-quality jobs, attracting investment, and positioning the city for long-term economic growth.

The city’s early railroad roots helped establish Roseville as an important hub for industry and commerce across the West. In the early 20th century, the Pacific Fruit Express ice plant became a key part of that growth. What was then considered the world’s largest ice manufacturing plant produced hundreds of tons of ice daily to help transport perishable goods by rail before mechanical refrigeration. Later, major technology employers such as Hewlett-Packard and NEC helped shape Roseville’s reputation for innovation and technology. Today, that legacy supports a modern manufacturing sector that continues to expand.

More than 220 manufacturers operate in Roseville, representing industries that make computer chips, medical devices, machinery, and specialized materials. Together, they support more than 3,000 local jobs and contribute to a strong and resilient local economy.

That diversity matters. A broad manufacturing base helps our community weather economic changes, supports stable employment, and creates opportunities for businesses of all sizes. It also strengthens the small businesses that depend on a healthy local economy.

Roseville continues to stand out as a place where manufacturers can succeed. Community-owned utilities offer reliable service and competitive rates, providing cost predictability. Streamlined permitting helps companies move efficiently from planning to production. Combined with a high quality of life and a strategic Northern California location, these advantages make Roseville an increasingly attractive destination for advanced manufacturing.

Our location within the Greater Sacramento region also connects businesses to research institutions, supply chain partners, and a growing workforce pipeline. Those partnerships are becoming even more important as demand grows for advanced technologies and domestic manufacturing capacity.

Bosch is investing $1.9 billion in a project expected to create more than 700 jobs focused on silicon carbide chip production. These chips are essential for technologies ranging from electric vehicles to modern energy systems.

The investment also reinforces our city’s growing role in semiconductor manufacturing nationwide. The Greater Sacramento region is projected to account for about 40% of U.S. silicon carbide chip manufacturing capacity, strengthening Roseville’s position in a critical national supply chain.

Manufacturing growth reaches far beyond production facilities. Each investment supports a wide network of suppliers, contractors, and logistics providers. Those ripple effects show up in job creation, increased household spending, and long-term community stability. As companies expand, they create demand for local services and strengthen the broader economy, helping Roseville remain competitive through changing market conditions.

Manufacturing is not only part of Roseville’s history. It is central to its future. With reliable infrastructure, strong regional partnerships and continued investment in advanced manufacturing, Roseville is well-positioned for long-term economic growth and innovation.
