Big Trucks Summer hits 10 years of action
Apr 15, 2026
Every Thursday in June, the rumble starts before you even reach the Utility Exploration Center, building from a distant growl into a full parade of engines as families gather, kids wave, and crews roll in right on cue. Don’t miss Big Trucks Summer on June 4, 11, 18, and 25 at Mahany Park (1501 Pleasant Grove Blvd), where the action takes place from 9 to 11 a.m. sharp, and something big is always about to roll in.
This is Big Trucks Summer, and this year it’s bigger than ever.
The 10th anniversary doesn’t just show up quietly. It announces itself with engines, horns, and a lineup of machines that look like they’ve driven straight out of a dream built by kids who love trucks:
For the 10th anniversary, the entire experience expands. Food trucks line the edges of the event, serving coffee, ice cream, smoothies, and snacks that keep everyone fueled. Inflatables rise above the crowd, truck-themed and split for different age groups so everyone has a place to jump and play. And for those who get there early, limited edition giveaways are available while supplies last.
In addition, families can also grab a piece of the celebration with Big Trucks t-shirts, available in toddler sizes 2T–5T on presale at the Utility Exploration Center starting now, while supplies last.
“This is our 10th anniversary of these amazing events, and we wanted to make it bigger and more memorable than ever,” said Melissa Kinsey, Interpretive Specialist II. “Big Trucks Summer is all about giving people a behind-the-scenes look at the work that keeps the city running, and this year, every week brings something new you won’t want to miss.”
Around all the truck excitement, Utility Exploration Center staff keeps the energy going with bean bag toss games, a kid-sized truck wash, and hands-on activities that let families interact, not just watch.
By the time June winds down, Big Trucks Summer has done more than entertain. It has turned massive machines into something personal, transforming the systems people rely on every day into experiences you can see, understand, and feel. For ten years, it has brought together engines, education, and community in one unforgettable place.
And this year, you won’t want to miss it.

The 10th anniversary doesn’t just show up quietly. It announces itself with engines, horns, and a lineup of machines that look like they’ve driven straight out of a dream built by kids who love trucks:
- The first Thursday kicks things off with Electric, featuring a high-energy parade and live demonstrations that bring power to life in a big, big way.
- The following week, Water takes over with a more hands-on experience, showing how crews tackle real-world challenges, with plenty of action for kids to jump into.
- By week three, Waste Services raises the scale, rolling in a massive lineup that turns familiar trucks into an unforgettable display of sound and movement.
- The final week belongs to Wastewater, stepping things up with new interactive elements that invite visitors to explore a side of the city most people never get to see.
